June 9th, 2019 – Today, on Pentecost, Pastor Jonathan gives an historical perspective on the feasts as celebrated during Pentecost, and the introduction of the Holy Spirit as our helper. The first feast was called the Feast of First Fruits. This is also the same time that Jesus rose from the dead (Matthew 28:1-10). The feast coincided with the harvest and each person brought to the feast on offering of the best of their first harvest of barley. There was the feast of weeks (or seven sabbath’s) with the 50th day being the day of Pentecost. During this time, Jesus returned to the disciples, after being raised from the dead, and visited with them in the Upper Room. Is it easy to make comparisons to traditional offerings during Pentecost to that of Christ, being the ultimate offering for all mankind and something we celebrate – this giving of himself for our salvation.
